Dairy farmers will be assigned a PAS reference 2030 under the nitrogen decree. In practice, this reference will apply as a farm-specific NH3 ceiling. An analysis of farm accounting figures in the Liba network shows that there are large differences between farms in the balance achieved per kg NH3. The main objective of this operational group "NH3 Optimal" is to improve the farm balance without additional environmental pressure.
Sub-objectives of this operational group are:
- Introducing the prefix balance per kg NH3 in dairy farming
- Analyse the factors affecting the balance per kg NH3.
- Develop a benchmarking tool around this for dairy farmers and their advisers
- Develop a KPI system for monitoring by dairy farmers and their advisers of the main factors affecting the balance per kg NH3
The timeline of this operational group "NH3 Optimal" includes building a dataset, collecting data, data analysis and developing useful tools for dairy farmers and their advisers.
Dairy farmers are actively involved in this operational group. For this, we appeal to the Liba farm managers' circles. The operational group "NH3 optimal" thus aims to contribute to an economically resilient dairy farming sector without increasing ammonia load.
