FertiHub: Closing the loop on circular fertilisers together by addressing logistics challenges

There are many advantages to using circular fertilisers. Not only are they cheap, but they also contribute to the circularity of the sector. Growers, meanwhile, are also convinced by the application of these products, but still identify one major problem for their implementation on their farms: the logistics of the products.

Due to the regional distribution of agricultural sectors, the places where these fertilisers are produced are often a long distance from the places where they can be used. The FertiHub collaboration aims to address this problem on two fronts.

On the one hand, project group wants to set up a partnership in which a central storage place for these fertilisers is provided in the middle of the region where they can be used, while at the same time encouraging and supporting other groups to do the same. This will enable more efficient transport and storage in these regions in the short term.

On the other hand, FertiHub wants to encourage new sectors, with different regional distribution, in the agri-food sector to use their by-products to produce circular fertilisers, in order to bring long-term supply closer to demand. Finally, the project group aims to further encourage the use of circular fertilisers in agriculture and horticulture.
