Call for submission: Launching 4 Local Action Groups in Limburg to strengthen rural development

Date: 12 February 2024

Today, rural development in Limburg province reaches an important milestone with the official establishment of four Local Action Groups (LAG) within the LEADER framework. These groups, LAG Kempen, Maasland, Haspengouw Zuidoost and Haspengouw Zuidwest, aim to strengthen local communities and promote sustainable projects in rural Limburg.

The LEADER programme, aimed at finding innovative solutions to rural challenges, is now expanding to 34 Limburg municipalities, with an investment of 10.5 million euros, of which 2.9 million euros are provincial funds. Submission of project proposals is possible until 16 April 2024, and detailed guidelines are available on the province of Limburg website (www.platteland.limburg.be). Potential applicants contact leader@limburg.be so that the LEADER coordinator can inform and guide them in submitting successful proposals. Approved projects can start on 1 July 2024 at the earliest.

This step marks a powerful move by Province of Limburg towards a more resilient, sustainable and prosperous future for its rural areas, with a focus on innovative proposals that can harness the unique strengths of each region.
